Either the FCC stopped censoring bad words or they just don't give a fuck about our local radio. I know it's not used as an insult in American Idiot or Holiday, but still weird hearing it on the radio.

I stopped hearing it uncensored in Money for Nothing years ago.

Back in the late 80s there was some song (___ basher) by some angry pissed off sounding rock group.

It wasn't until a few years after that I realized that they didn't mean it literally.

I remember reading an article on Billie Joe and his use of that slur.

It was something about even though he is bisexual, he is straight passing and is married to a woman so he shouldn't be saying that.

That was also the first time I heard about straight-passing.

Situations like that are interesting. I've seen similar criticism levied against Logic for his use of the n word. He's half black but looks white

On topic, I've heard "fuck" uncensored on the radio a few times, so maybe the FCC guidelines changed or local stations just dgaf

Watch the episode in its entirety. That's why. People just throw the word around as a generic insult these days. It's only homophobes that hold it in such regard that its aimed at gay folks. If someone is being a jackass, theres a chance I'll use that term to describe them regardless of their sexuality.

The n word is different, that's a word I dont let slip past my lips unless I'm having an honest to Odin conversation about it, in which it becomes nothing but a vocalization of a term, and nothing else.

Look, you can have your opinion and I can have mine. Neither are right. I'm assuming by now I'm being stared at as a homophobe, but nothing else I say will help you understand I'm actually not.

Just, watch the episode, it's where I got the philosophy on the word, and if you still disagree then, I dont know.

Anyone who uses the word (in non-artistic context) regardless of who it's being directed at is a homophobe. No matter how many times you use it towards a hetero joe schmo it's still a gay slur at the end of the day.

You wouldn't argue that someone who uses the n-word (hard R) towards white people isn't a racist, so idk why you'd argue this.

Look, I'm not going to engage you on this topic any further. I understand you disagree and that's fine; everyone has an opinion, and that's fine. I truly apologize if I hurt anyone's feelings, but I no longer consider it a homophobic slur entirely.
