Topic.

The tank will forever be filled up with gas. Including all future cars you own. But if you try to sell the car the gas automatically dissappears.

Unless you're literally never going to drive a single day of your life, there is zero reason to ever choose the money. For self-employed truckers, it'd probably be an extra million dollars over their career.

I can turn 5k into more money in the next 5 years than I'll ever spend in gas.

I'll take the gas and then do a bunch of things to my truck that make mileage worse like bigger tires, a roof basket, and a steel bumper with winch.

I'll take the cash. It's like $50 to fill up my car every other month and I'd likely have a fully electric car long before that $300/year catches up to the 5k.

Also when you say "cars you own" is that actual ownership or just "This is the car I drive"? Depending on state you don't own the car until the loan is paid off so you could potentially lose ~4 years of "unlimited free gas" any time you swap cars.

It's like a 3 minute drive to the places I normally go and there's no real stop signs or lights. The exception is going to my bud's house on the weekend for food and drinks, but I typically just carpool with my cousin since parking is tight out there. She has a baby so we just take her car so they don't have to move the car seat.

Free gas would definitely save me more money in the long run. $5,000 is the equivalent of approximately five years worth of gas for me (as of right now, based on how much I drive and the current price). Not that thats not bad, but I intend to be driving for wayyy past five years. And who knows how much driving Ill be needing to do in the future.

So we're supposed to just keep all of our old cars?

I just got a newer car. I'd rather get the money to pay down the loan.
