Technically, if you were playing in a session and no one did a single task, everything would be fine. Theoretically, you could spend the entire game just sitting in the cafeteria until everyone got bored. There's no time limits on basic tasks. It's part of why the imposters can sabotage (to force people to split up). While doing all your tasks leads to an auto-win for the good guys (and the point of it is to help pull the innocents to different parts of the ship to make kills easier for the bad guys), you don't actually have to do a single task if you're clever enough to figure out who the imposters are and just airlock them (or drop them in lava, walk the plank, etc).
