I enjoyed the blue coins, but that's because I'm weird.

i hate to say it but i like that type of thing too. i actually went and found all 100 hidden packages in gta3 and i like stuff like that. if the designer is good, you can kinda get into his head.

Like it's not even up for debate unless you really like the SM64 formula that much. Sunshine is riddled with awful ideas, a general chore for a gimmick, and somehow a worse camera than the first 3D platformer

i felt like the water level with all the climbable stuff was really poorly designed; i don't think i ever approached any part of that the way they wanted me to. except the parts that absolutely forced me.

Sunshine is okay. Just most Mario platformers are excellent.

I think Banjo-Kazooie was a much better follow up to the formula set by 64. Sunshine just has way too many irritating factors to it.

Normal completion is great but 100% is a slog in Sunshine.

It was okay. The problem is its the only mainline Mario game Ive ever played that is just okay. My biggest problems:

• Making every level just different parts of a tropical island lacks variety.
• FUCK the pachinko machine.
• The water jetpack was an interesting idea but kills momentum. The best parts of the game are legitimately the parts where Shadow Mario steals FLUDD.
• Anything involving Yoshi is an absolute chore. Yoshi is supposed to be more fun, not less.
• The flippy bird things and especially the wind enemies that always show up when youre on a small ledge are annoying enemies. Not fun. Not challenging. Just annoying.
• Too many blue coins. Also, no way to keep track of how many you have left.
• Any section where you ride a boat or raft and use your jet to propel yourself is also a slow chore. Having the last section of the game consist of this was a massive mistake. Many gamers who dont care about getting 100% will be left with a bad taste in their mouth. Especially when its coupled with:
• Easiest. Last boss. Ever.

It's an applehead kids game
