So my son was invited to a girl's birthday party tonight, the went to a place where you pick out and paint your own piece of pottery. When I dropped him off the mother of the girl attempted to reassure me it was OK for my son to be there by telling me not to worry because other boys were coming. I told her it wouldn't metter to me if he was the only boy there and she was a little surprised by that.

It happens. I had a lady question me pretty aggressively when I was taking care of my niece when she was a toddler at the park once. She (the kid) would be like "chase me chase me" and id pretend run after her and she'd get away by climbing up to the slide and sliding down and then shed run around and dodge me and do it again.

Lady was in my face saying it seemed like I coached her to make it a joke. It was like I'm so mad cause wtf are you accusing me of... but also you're insane and I'm just not doing this.

People have some weird issues.

It just occurred to me thats not remotely comparable. Except people are weird.

Yea they do. I didn't take it personally because I live in Alberta and I'm more than well aware of the stigma a lot of men here would have over something like that.

I used to be a really talkative kid and my mom used to tell me to shut up because it's a girly trait. She'd say stuff like "why are you acting this way are you a girl?".

I just remembered this right now because of this topic and it makes me mad thinking about it.
