Screaming and shouting? Trying to humiliate you infront of your co-workers and friends? Forcing you to work extra shifts at the last moment? Swearing at you? Physical violence? Repeated threat of firing you?

Favoritism of another worker in the group.

Admonishment in front of fellow workers.

Denying me work I'm seeking that could further my career.

It led to more than a couple of anxiety attacks in my late twenties and ultimately my being laid off from the company.

This was also around the time I learned the truth about HR.

HR (Human Resources) touts itself, as the name would suggest, as support for you, the employee, particularly from things like abuse from higher ups.

The truth in practice is that HR is not there to protect the employee from the company, it's to protect the company from the employee.

Yup, it's a hard lesson to learn. Especially since I know the woman currently working HR quite well, way back when she was an accounting clerk. I know I can't talk to her about shit other than bog-standard HR questions like benefits and tax stuff now.

(Doesn't help that she's good friends with my girlfriend either, maybe that works to my benefit, idk)

When I worked at a grocery store one of the managers pulled a super bitch move. I was organizing the shelves, and for literally no reason at all, she walks over and starts pushing the cans out of place and says "This is crooked, this is crooked, this is crooked, do it all over" before using her arm to sweep an entire shelf on the ground.

Looking back on it I really should've went to the big boss at the store, but I was just in utter disbelief at that display of asshole-ishness, so I wrote up my 2 week's notice that very night.

My weight. Which despite that I still had more moves on my shift than most my coworkers but I was an easy target because of my size. So the third time they made a comment about it I took our paper work to HR (before we went digital) and was like heres the evidence of my moves compared to others on my shift Im being targeted.

This is basic bitch shit.

A competent and wise manager knows how to get people's attention. There's rules and laws against basically everything you've said, but there's no rule or law that says I have to schedule someone for X number of hours per week.

I had a supervisor for an internship who held it over my head constantly that she could fail me. It was unessesary- I was always there and did my work. But she brought it up constantly and was the only barrier to me graduating. I explained the situation to my advisor who looked into it and the school decided I would pass regardless of the grade she gave me.
