I did a mobile pickup order at Wendy's and the damn door was locked. The app told me to come pick it up from the counter and they didn't even have a sign. The door was just straight locked.(drive-thru was open but I don't have a car)

Because companies get what they deserve. I correct people at the pharmacy every time they imply our staff shortage is due to "no one wanting to work".

Its partly the company being assholes and partly the entitles customers being assholes. Being paid slave wages that barely cover anything isnt worth getting yelled at by some entitles POS who has her annoying brats running around all over the place.

I dont miss retail.

I've driven by multiple fast food places that have signs out saying they will be closing one day a week cause of the staffing problems. Lol and people thought the unemployment benefits going away would actually cause this to stop. Nah people are fed up with being paid shit

Oh, it's absolutely because it's a stressful, low-paying job where people treat you like shit.

Most of the fast food places where I am have tons of signs up now saying theyre hiring at $15 an hour. I wonder if theyve been having better luck hiring people.

Just automate restaurants and fastfood if they can't get employees. I can't imagine most people wanting to work as a shitty waiter or fastfood.

Ever seen those sushi restaurants with the conveyor belts? You order what you want on a screen/tablet at your table, and there's only the chefs working, and they put your food on the belt. Western places could try something like that.

Eventually machines will just take over. Go to the grocery and self check out. Most restaurants l do a pickup order online or order off the tablet in the store. Things like washing my car, filling up my gas tank, are done by myself with no employee

well end up with a couple stocking employees

The Dairy Queen right in front of my house has that exact same sign up. Plus they are only open one shift a day, from 11am to 7pm. Yet I look out the window and there are always 10 or more cars in the drive-thru. They also have a sign that says "Please understand we are short staffed and be nice to our employees", they have definitely been bitched out by some customers.

What I find funny is how for fuckin' years people talk about how fast food workers are lazy and entitled and owners are just going to replace them with robots. Now that the fast food workers got so "entitled" that they marched the hell out, no one seems to be hitting up Skynet to salt their fries.
