Maybe the culprit is gluten

Or FODMAPs

Why would you get gluten free bread if you don't have a diagnosed reason to do so

I've also never seen gluten free potato rolls in stores or restaurants. Potato rolls are typically still made with wheat flour in it.

They were 100% potato starch, but technically there could have been gluten on it as per there advertising sticker *(all products leave the factory gluten free, but cannot be guaranteed to remain so at the store)*

neat, should I sue? It's on their gluten free with exception (explained above)... I mean, I wasn't really harmed by the gluten, I eat gluten all the time unphased. It'd be a simple case of possibly false advertising unless there was some Asterisk I didn't see

No one with any real reason to avoid gluten should be eating anything at subway. It's all contaminated. Them having a gluten free menu is just taking advantage of misinformed people who think avoiding gluten is healthy for the general population.

First, no such thing as gluten allergy. There's celiac disease (not an allergy) and wheat allergy (an allergy, but to non-gluten proteins).

And because 1) if he doesn't have a diagnosed reason to avoid gluten, he has no need to be doing so, and 2) I was fairly sure he didn't actually have a gluten free bread, no one opts for gluten free bread on purpose because it's shit

People who ask for gluten free items but aren't strictly gluten free cause restaurants/servers to believe gluten free requests don't need to be taken seriously.

Taste? Also, the more people want a certain kind of foods, the more companies will want to develop new options.

Gluten avoidance being "popular" is worse than gluten free products being strict. Used to be that gluten free things being labeled as such were a sign that the restaurant took care to ensure it's safe for celiacs. Now you have places labeling the dish as gluten free just because they didn't intentionally add anything that obviously contains gluten, even if it's severely contaminated or even contains ingredients that aren't safe for celiacs at all.

"Oops, I didn't know that soy sauce was made with wheat."

"Yes, our french fries are gluten free. What do you mean, separate fryer? They're cooked in the same one as the battered chicken, onion rings, and so on."

I wasn't actively trying to avoid gluten... I just noticed it was the gluten free section.
