Do you care about the console shortage?

Microsofts Xbox chief, Phil Spencer, says console supply issues will continue into 2022. In an interview with The Wrap, spotted by Video Games Chronicle, Spencer admits the Xbox supply issues will last for the rest of the year and into 2022 due to supply chain complications beyond just a chip shortage.

I think its probably too isolated to talk about it as just a chip problem, says Spencer. When I think about, what does it mean to get the parts necessary to build a console today, and then get it to the markets where the demand is, there are multiple kind of pinch points in that process. And I think regretfully its going to be with us for months and months, definitely through the end of this calendar year and into the next calendar year.

I just don't understand what the point was of releasing a console no one can buy.

I could see how this might be good news for shady resellers.

Plans for the new consoles were well underway by the time anyone realized this shortage would be what it is, it's hard to stop that train once it starts rolling.

And despite that, these consoles are selling faster than most previous generations have. The demand's just higher.

Yeah, they completely knew that the chip shortage was gonna last this long. How dare they!

Wasn't planning on getting a PS5 or new Xbox for years, so I couldn't care. My retro consoles get far more play anyways.

At this point I don't fucking care.

Lomg as I can get an X or PS5 for whenever Monster Hunter 6 drops. Probably 2023 based on

1. The big Capcom Leak
2. Monster Hunter Gens have been about 5 year gaps since Tri. 2009-2013-2018
3. They aren't gonna release it right on top of Sunbreak so 2022 is pretty much out. Given how big an undertaking modern MH is especially a new gen it probably won't be ready till 2023(even 2024 if covid slowed things enough)

Ive had my Series X since Januaryand it took a dozen different stock tracker alerts being set up and monitoring different Twitter accounts too. Gave up trying to get a ps5 when getting an Xbox was this much of a hassle.

Ill get one when I get one I suppose.
