Those are copper supplements for ruminants (cattle, goats, etc). The small metal pieces embed themselves inside the rumen (the first chamber of the stomach) and dissolve slowly over the course of 8-12 months. They're not cheap, they can run as much as $2-3 per capsule.



The one in OP's photo looks like it's goat-sized. You'd never give copper to a sheep, it's toxic to them.
