At 80 years old, Superman is a certified senior citizen, even if he doesn't look a day over 30. As the world changes, Superman is updating his mission statement to better reflect the world he lives in, announced DC Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee at today's DC Fandome event.
The world is changing, and so must the Man of Steel. Since his earliest years, the superhero's motto has been "Truth, Justice, and the American Way," but we live in an increasingly global world, and Superman protects not just the United States of America, but Earth as well.

"To better reflect the storylines that we are telling across DC and to honor Supermans incredible legacy of over 80 years of building a better world, Supermans motto is evolving. Superman has long been a symbol of hope who inspires people, and it is that optimism and hope that powers him forward with this new mission statement: Truth, Justice, and A Better Tomorrow," Lee said in an official statement.

The plot is he wanted to support Tibet and it caused an international incident as China claimed he was a spokesperson for the American Government.

And Supes pretty much esclated negative relations. So he relinquished his citizenship.

IT's not so much "The American way is automatically bad." it's "I want to do the right thing for the people of Earth, all people"

I mean things like the Patriot Act and intervention in the middle east are 100% anti-thetical to Superman's morals

They do however make up most of the comics writers community.

But manga outsells comics because these comic writers write for Twitter rather than comic audiences.

The ones I've read say it's mainly liberal men aged 20-50 buying comics.

Then comics like Harelyquin took off massively a few years ago because liberal women bought them too.

I think you're creating a self-fulfilling prophecy here.

I think Managa outselling comics came from the fact "Superheros" as an industry became more film and video game focused. So comic fans more naturally moved onto to Managa.

Same reason why Manga about aliens sells better than the tie-in Alien comic books.

You can pretty much see the rise in Manga sales and the decline in comic book sales match up perfectly with the crushing success of the MCU.

The casuals ruined the clubhouse for the 47 year olds who have been reading Spiderman comics for 38 years

I mean this was literally a plot point in Watchmen.

Superheros became so popular that people were LARPing as them. As a result superhero comics died and everyone moved on to Pirates.
