You're in a burning building and trying to escape when you hear a dog locked in his crate inside of Cleet's room.

Then on the opposite side of the hall you see a duffle bag full of money.

The fire is spreading towards both and it would be impossible to grab both before the fire reaches one of them.

It would be easy however to grab one of them.

I'm not even a dog person but I can't see myself looking at a dog I know I can save and going "nah". Sure, the money can probably save more dogs in the long run or something, but in the moment I don't think there's anyway I can leave that le epic pupper.

The only thing I love more than money is dogs. Also the money isn't going to feel the excruciating pain of burning alive. Only I will feel that while I think about the money. The money.... the dog should be smart enough to get out on his own. Plus if its unmarked bills, you can just hide them in your home and take it out when you need it. 86,000 dollars can pay for groceries 286 times. That's a little over 13 years worth of groceries. One less thing to worry about.

I'm going to have to admit, it will be a harder decision for me...but that's mainly because I don't like dogs and am not convinced they are fully sapient (yet).

For my own selfish needs: I would just take the money.

But altruism and selflessness are virtuous and are also very important. Life is very important. And if I didn't save the dog, I would be also be shamed by others for not doing anything to save a life. Would I also feel guilt, too? How about empathy? I don't know for sure - I've never been in such a situation.

Perhaps I will think of "the greater good" and save the dog.

think about it, when every day is a struggle just 2 take care of urself, how appealing is it to take care of something else?
