How is it? How long does it take to complete? Are people lying and saying it's good when it's really very bad?

I put it on my Christmas list. That way if I don't end up enjoying it I'm not out any money. I think I will, though

Good movement and controls. Very short for a 2D game

Yes.

Every person that owns a Switch should own this game.

It's about 10 hours long - meaty for a Metroid game.

Controls are super fluid. Boss fights are hard, but all the attacks have tells, so you can learn how to dodge their stuff. It's really good.

Tied for my favorite 2-d Metroid.

Some people say it's too easy to get lost. Some say it's too linear. That is a preference/experience thing. I think it was great.

Weak spot is the music is more atmospheric with nothing too memorable music wise. But it's good.

9/10

People saying it's terrible or whatever must have never played Fusion, Zero Mission or don't like Metroid games, because it's just like the others.

How long do you think other 2d Metroid games are on average?

If you need to know how long a game is then just use How Long To Beat. Its pretty accurate for most games

It's excellent. Either the second or third best Metroid game. Took me about 12 hours to beat on my first playthrough.

Dread is very, very good. Already beat it five times. Metroid speedrunners are having a field day with all the sequence breaks they're finding.

There are some issues with the game depending on who you ask. My main issue is EMMI randomness, but the continue/retry system is very forgiving.

From nearly every metric you can think of it's one of the best Metroid games out there, if not the best.

My only real complaint is that I don't think the mini-bosses have enough variety. I'm so sick of fighting chozo soldiers in mini boss arenas. No, giving one a shield or having me fight two at once it's not particularly clever and reeks of the studio cutting what could have been more creative fights to save time or money.

Even the emmi, where each new one you have to take out gets one additional ability... While from a design perspective I can appreciate that it creates a nice linear difficulty curve that matches the player's progression, it still feels a little copy and paste given that your strategy for fighting them is the exact same every time.

Its ok but very much Nintendo playing it safe. Very standard fare. When weve been graced with amazing games like hollow knight and ori or recent years i really hoped Nintendo would try something new but its just the same Metroid game weve been playing for over twenty years.

Yes, it's excellent. Right up there with the rest of the 2D series since Super.

Yes, it's very challenging but fun. It won't win you over if you dislike Metroidvania games, but it's still a blast to play. Watch some gameplay videos of it and see if it interests you.

For me it's an open world maze peppered with puzzles.

The fast travel cut scenes drop the display down to something like 5 frames per second on my end.

I haven't beaten the game yet, but I surely hope it gets better.

I agree but the system still vastly improved upon.
