Btw apparently Bozja is amazing exp after level 80. So might wanna try some skirmishes if you get locked out of msq

Woah really? I would have figured it was pretty worthless post-80 just like the deep dungeons are outside of their level ranges.

You get like 880k exp per skirmish still. It's ridiculous so I'm expecting it to get patched.

Im not sure its only the login server anymore... a purple message popped up in-game about 15 minutes ago saying there would be an emergency all-worlds maintenance from 10pm-2am PST and to please log out before the maintenance begins

Finished the 89 Trial.

Full trust party for this was awesome. Much more reliable than randos, even if it takes longer! (Though the trial itself actually seemed pretty easy to accomidate)

I was at a certain point in the 89 MSQ that gave me the ol "Several Cutscenes" notice with Maintenance being 20 minutes away. Felt like a good stopping point.

hell, even the pixie quests are still decent above 80. they don't have the same dropoff that previous beast quests did, it seems.

Also I just wanted to take a moment to talk about how good bard is now: songs finally affect bard, dots last 1.5x longer, procs are much more likely, and some now have two charges. Have become a DPS machine lol.

I'm glad other people like it but as a hardcore bard main I'm still not happy about it! The dots feel pointless now and the Mage's Ballad nerf just pisses me off. AoE feels awful outside of the Apex/Blast Combo. The song and dot timer increase is objectively good but subjectively my internal timer is completely fucked and I'm not used to it.

I dunno. Just still feels to me like they took one step forward and two steps back (and then forward and back and then)

I am not hardcore but I am a bard main and it plays so much better to me. I keep my dots up just because thats what you do with dots.

Yeah, it plays a lot smoother. I do not like it.

The dots used to do EVEYRTHING in your kit, which glued the job together. Now you keep the dots up, because they are dots, and sometimes you don't even bother to put them up because they are just dots and aren't worth it.

Given their potencies the battle would have to be insanely short not to be worth it!

And if it is so short it is a relief not having all your stuff tied into dots

I mean yeah, it's not worth it to dot on dungeon mobs, that's my beef.

I really cannot stress enough how fucking boring dungeons are on bard now.

The extra 30 seconds on all your cooldowns is also super obnoxious in dungeons but maybe I just need better timing

If there's no spread for the dots on a Job, then discouraging putting dots on trash is absolutely a good thing, I stand by that!

Oh man I just want to hug these Loporrits when theyre trying so hard and messing up all of the accommodations

Also pretty clear that their surface contacts are the Sharlayans, which would be explain both the Forums preparations and why the Loporrits ended up focusing on functionality at the expense of enjoyability for food/clothes/etc

Assuming the mobs live for the full duration of the dot (big ask with the longer timer), it's not worth it to dot anything if there's more than 3 targets. Which is almost always the case in dungeons.

So in in 2-3 target scenarios, you keep dots up on everything. But because the proc rate is unaffected, you're doing all this extra work for less reward when you used to just go off. It feels so much worse than it used to.

I guess the extra work is simply offset by the fact that you simply dont need to dot as often - again, only an issue with very short lived battles! Also for me, untying the procs from the dots takes a lot of pressure off when you have a lot of targets dying quite quickly but maybe I am just bad lol.

Well, no, the situation with the Magus Sisters is a long battle. It is still optimal to keep dots on all of them. BUT because you don't get bonus procs, dots are weaker, and you are less rewarded for it than Shadowbringers bard was. You do the same work for less reward.

And the pressure from things dying too quickly from your dots on aoe was also offset by procs being so fucking strong it made up for it (especially in Mage's Ballad rip). If things died too soon, doesn't matter, got procs and a fat Apex. Oh and the shorter timer also worked out to less potency loss. I actually find it MORE stressful now.

I suppose it is the kind of thing that will vary based on the player, but I will say Ive only run Magus Sisters once and was mainly concerned with not embarrassing myself after so long away haha so I will let you know how I feel after a few more runs.

Also 30 minutes of FFXIV is better than no FFXIV! Zone 3 is so good. The pace picking up feels instant from when you start it.

Ahhh, I didn't get kicked but I did sit at 1 one time for like 5 minutes.

I something weird happen where I was stuck at 1 for like ten minutes a few days ago, after logging out in my house. I sighed in defeat and went to requeue by hitting the queue window's X, hit "yes" on the "are you sure?"

...and got kicked into the game, idle camera on, outside my house.

I'm pretty sure multiple people here just dropped the name of one of the new fights without spoiler tags in here. May not seem like a huge deal but can we please not do that? :(

This is a relief at least. But yeah I'm in the camp that feels promo stuff and launch trailers generally speaking are spoilery as all hell when it comes to games so I've avoided all of that stuff.

It actually says a lot about the quality of the dungeons in this game that it's the only one I wouldn't consider a big spoiler!

Every other expansion is litered with at least 50% of them being inconsequential from a spoiler standpoint.

Yeah, they're all pretty heavily story-focused this expansion, which is kind of nice.

I wouldn't necessarily call the mentioned spoiler too spoilerific... if you are at Endwalker, anyway, since it's one of the first things you learn about in the zone it is in.

That said, it is not a trial: they're a dungeon boss. Alarmingly, so is Anima, also shown in the trailer. No, no, the first trial is very much more "WTF? Really? Now?"
