why would you do this to yourself on any but the most dead boards?

I want to keep up on the save mys and the full throttle topics

I absolutely want to know when there's a new topic on the PlayStation All-Stars board

I do have this alert for any post in the Lost Kingdoms I & II boards

Feature would be useful if you could ask it to only notify you about topics with certain tags. i.e. if you were a mafia player and wanted that tag whenever a game pops up, or you want notices about contest discussion in the offseason. Would also help if you could put in keywords to be pinged about. So if you were active in an SMC, you could put in "SMFFFC" or "Waifu" as a keyword.

As it is, there's no real use for it at B8 because the notifications would be constant.

I always thought that this feature would be great if you could use it without adding a board to your favorites. As it stands, if you're tracking a board that gets 1 post per year, you're most likely going to notice the change in "last post" date on your boards list anyway.

The only purpose of this feature is to get up-to-the-minute notifications if someone posts while you're online and actively reading a different board at the time.

Seems like this could theoretically help some of the less trafficked game boards. Seems like thats the best case for this, and not a board as active as this one.
