There are some enemies that require a timed button press, but you can unlock that skill within a few hours before you would even need it much. Better combat flow, more intuitive buttons, no auto health regen, better and more styles of weapons, gore and a bunch of brutal finishing moves. Your bird isn't some unstoppable drone that can permanently mark everything, even through buildings and solid rock. Less handholding without feeling more tedious. You won't pick up a bunch of armor and weapons from dead enemies and random chests, but just means less breaking down of thousands of duplicates. Gear upgrading is a lot more straightforward and doesn't require you to constantly upgrade something to your current level. Level scaling in general is just less annoying. It's really just recommended levels on the different areas. The codex is back. Im going through the DLC and the bonus mission since I never played it for either.
