Predestination does have a certain pretentiousness as a concept and the term became offensive in most circles. Calvin also watered down the traditional "Christian" stance against charging interest which allowed capitalism to take off and become super lucrative for lenders. I think it's a shame it's such a great comic character inspired such a terrible religion.
