I haven't played MP 8-10.

But wow of the MPs I've played that's the perfect first three elims.

Yeah 4 is a piece of crap.

That anyone would put Mario Party 9 and 10 over any of the others actually just completely boggles my mind.

3 built off of 2. 2 definitely shows it's age more than 3 does. You could argue that TOO much is happening at any given time in 3, but there's more strategy to it.

4 did some good things, but was ultimately a terrible attempt at a reinvention of the game. The "Mini-Mega" system was asinine. You'd have stars get trapped behind mini pipes for 20 turns because no one could get the right mini roll at the right time, or a lamp to free everyone from their suffering. It was an entirely worse skeleton key. The bowser minigames also started here and should never have existed.

5 played it safe because of 4. If anything, it's 3's opposite. The capsule system is too unrefined to be great, and very little really happens most of the time. The game also has too many button mashers, especially in duels. 5 also removed battles AND chance time from the maps, which was a welcome change.

6 built off of 5 in mostly good ways. The item system is fixed, day/night is an interesting touch, and the minigames are just better and have barely any mashers at all. 6 does have an inexplicably set star pattern in the first two maps though. If you're paying attention, you'll start knowing exactly where each next star will spawn. They bring back chance time squares, unfortunately.

7 built off of 6 in almos all bad ways. It also added the single worst mechanic in the entire series in Bowser Time. There's almost nothing 7 does that isn't done better by than 6. Like, 7's chain chomp map is just a totally inferior version of 6's. Windmillville is also a really dumb map that makes everyone horde all their coins until the last few turns. The bowser minigames are insane (some of the nastiest games of any sort in the entire series) and for the first time can take stars, because what we needed was this space to get even more powerful. The first 3 games got it right. It also reintroduced single player minigames that were rightfully removed from the series after the first game. Again, why?

Just haven't played 8-10.

I like 7 just fine but it's probably because 8 to 10 are so terrible it makes me look back on it with undeserved fondness.

Turns seemingly took 5-10 minutes in MP7. It just seemed so unnecessarily bloated.
