It was a good time ^_^. I give it a solid 8/10.

Got to hang out with my friends quite a bit, and had both a successful panel and a successful photoshoot. Played some games, bought some stuff. Kinda ignored the indie games section. Even on their best year, that area's pretty low-key.

The music acts were pretty good, but obviously many huge names couldn't make it, so there were a lot of second-stringers. Still, I saw Lacey Johnson, the Triforce Quartet, Bit Brigade, a little bit of The Megas, and stopped in for a bit of the Chiptune Rave.

It's funny. With the low attendance it felt slightly sparse and depressing, but by the same token, it wasn't like there were giant crowds or long lines either.

lol it's COVID. I got an assigned seat. >_>

But in a different time, I would look for a seat with a table so I can set up my lappy comfortably.

Before I left for the trip but I wasn't able to secure one for after it.

My last big train journey was down to Munich in Oct/Nov. On the way there I had a 4er seat (not the seat I had reserved, since the carriage I had reserved it in didn't exist and the conductor couldn't help me since "this train is Austrian, I have no idea where anything is") and halfway through a guy sat opposite diagonal to me. It was practical when I needed to go pee and he offered to look after my stuff

For some reason I don't really remember the journey back. I think I was in a 2er seat (this time one I had reserved) and had no one next to me the entire time

Is it a cheaper and better option then flying, or do you just prefer it?

I think the cost in general is a wash, as is the time commitment when you factor in stuff like TSA security.

I just prefer the comfort. Being able to get up and walk around. Power for devices. Free wifi.

Plus: About 90 minutes ago, the other guy moved to an empty seat. That was very nice of him and it's one of those like "why did Amtrak assign him to this seat and not the empty one" but whatever, I'm not gonna complain.

Minus: The train has stopped due to mechanical issue. It's been a mere seven minutes so far, but I'll keep you all updated on this development.

Another plus: It is nice however that a mechanical failure on a train doesn't mean we drop out of the sky.
Obvious minus: This is of course, what leads to their being a relatively less strict mechanical requirement for trains to be a-runnin'. I'm sure it's strict, but not so much as planes.

Update: We're moving again, just as I finished typing that last bit.
