I dont have shares in but but say he bought all the shares in the company - what would happen to shares that I own? Say I have one share - couldnt I just withhold selling it to him? or is the goal for him to own like 51% and therefore he doesnt necessarily need to buy shares owned by plebs like me? --- *walks away* ... If he bought it, and decided to go private, you would be paid out at the agreed upon share price. In this case, he's offering $54 a share which is well above what it's trading for (around $30 a share). The whole thing is about to turn into chaos. The board just enacted a "Poison Pill" policy, which will stop the take over temporarily, but leaves the entire BoD open to being fired and sued by the shareholders. --- Most people are other people.
