NY/SF Giants share a name because the SF Giants used to play in NY. That why the official name of the NY Giants is the "New York Football Giants" because the baseball team came first. Although the NY and TX Rangers kinda got their names for the same reason. The Texas Rangers obvously make sense, but the NY Rangers are called the Rangers because the original owners name was George Lewis Ricard, but his nickname was "Tex". So they called the the Tex's Rangers, a play on the term "Texas Rangers". The NY Jets and Winnipeg Jets is purely coincidence. --- It takes zero effort to be a good person. ... Copied to Clipboard!
