I'm thinking of switching from Elementary OS to Pop!_OS simply for graphics card support. Elementary lacks the ability to switch between graphics cards. I'm sure it's possible but it's not quite baked into the system like Pop!_OS.

System76 even has a nice little rundown of gaming on their OS.

I'm keeping my Windows install when my laptop gets here, though. There's a second slot for another SSD that I will probably put Pop!_OS on. Storage is so cheap these days.

I'd advise against using Elementary as a daily driver, especially given the recent drama with developers leaving the project and it losing its "funding", wherever it came from. Doesn't help that it's always a version or two behind Ubuntu's main releases.

Pop OS is pretty good if you're a new Linux user but it's a little too basic for my tastes and still has a long way to catch up with some of the other major distros. The only real casual usage I can see for it would be if you built a PC on a budget and couldn't afford Windows, but if you know how to make a bootable Linux image and install it, you probably know how to acquire Windows by other means.

Ubuntu 22.04 has been a great distro, save for the Snap drama.

I used to, but honestly there are some quality of life features I just find myself wanting that I'm a bit too lazy to implement myself in some cases on bare bones Debian. I understand the sentiment though.

Ubuntu 22.04 is a great distro and I've had no problems with it.

I will be keeping my Windows installation intact, but I doubt I'll use it often. I wasn't really aware of that tidbit regarding the developers leaving the project regarding Elementary.

Honestly my reason for using Linux over Windows most of the time is to reduce my exposure to megacorps harvesting my data to some extent. I dislike the cloud based direction most modern operating systems have gone and all of these requirements to hook into online accounts. That said, I'm definitely exposed to it via Android but if I can help it I would minimize that footprint if possible.

It's kind of nice that they packaged an installer specifically for NVIDIA hardware.
