It's really fun. I've done two readings and they've been really accurate in a lot of ways and really interesting

Does anyone here believe in this type of spirituality? I think they're fun but they work off your thoughtful intention while you question and draw the cards (allegedly). It's fun when they appear accurate.

I think its more of a meditative thing, like the template provided by the cards gives you an external framework to analyze a thought, question, or problem in a way that you might not have encountered organically. Its definitely a lot of fun, but the seeming accuracy can be a trap that leads to a lot of frustration and even poor decision making if you place too much emphasis in it as a truth pursuit. I think its important when youre starting out to spread out your larger (5+ card) readings and focus on practicing with smaller (1-3 card) draws. Spending time to really get to know each card individually will help you contextualize how they interact with one another when you do bigger spreads.

Im reading from the Weaver Tarot lately, specifically the Ascendant Edition by Threads of Fate, the cards are absolutely beautiful.

I've always wondered why so many people warn others not to use Ouija boards too. The only thing that's happened to me that was a bit odd was a disappearing pentagram in a cul-de-sac.

Around 1995 when this house was still being built, a friend and I ran into each other on bikes and we hung out in this area a while.

There was a box of street chalk by a bunch of construction stuff so we used it to write stuff on the road. We ended up drawing a giant pentagram using almost the whole space of the cul-de-sac and we wrote some jibberish characters in and around it to make it look cool.

The very next morning, not 14 hours later, the entire drawing was gone. No trace of it. No construction workers in sight. Nothing seemed touched. We left at dusk around 6pm and I was back there with more colored chalk from my mom's craftroom by 8am.

Exactly. If you tried to use divination to pursue wealth, especially through a chance based method, youd likely end up questioning why you are driven to seek wealth, and whether its acquisition would lead you to further developing a noble spirit.

Straughan posted...

Two main reasons, the first of course being that theyre superstitious rubes who buy into a childs game being a genuine form of mysticism and ascribe evil qualities to it because it being real presents incongruence to their dogma. The second would be other practitioners who understand that participating in occult rituals has a psychological effect that can be confusing or harmful to the uninitiated.

I wouldn't really put Tarot and Ouija in the same category. Tarot is just a fortune casting device. There's a lot of misconceptions about what it is and how it's intended to work. It's more akin to a random number generator than a form of spiritual communication. I've always found the I-Ching preferable, and it's usually explained better when you learn it. I actually wrote a book on it a long time ago.
The Ouija is a different creature entirely. It's a form of evocation. The best way I've heard it described is that it's like cracking a door to a completely unknown location. It could be an empty room, or there could be something there that's been waiting for ages, willing to say or do anything for a chance to get out. It's a gamble, and the less you understand it, the more the odds are against you.

I don't believe in it. I think it can kind of 'jog' your creativity when thinking about life goals etc, but I think it more dangerous when people make actual choices based on it when they shouldn't be. Same with horoscopes. I don't know why this stuff gets labelled as 'spirituality'.

Its fun, especially when you can get right on the edge of vague and specific. Knowing stats about human lives lets you make more specific but still vague predictions.

Since you worked/work in claims and hear a lot of stories you probably have a lot if data and patterns to work with.

A therapist would probably have the most fun readings.

Sure, that's really about the same as physics asking leading questions. It can lead to good things, or bad things. It's sad when people take it seriously, so I don't think it deserves any energy, really. If it were quantifiably beneficial, there would be quantifiable data.

I've met some pretty goofed but nice people that have based life decisions on tarot card readings for the worse, so that's where I'm coming from. I really don't like anything superstitious and find it impractical.

tbf though I'm sure you'd be capable of reading into whether someone is taking something too seriously. I also get judgey when there's money involved. selling false hope, that kinda ish.
