I didn't know about that definition, but I guess Americans apply everything to themselves lol

I knew of it as actually being part of pan African (maybe more specific even) cultures, as in some countries don't follow strict schedules.

Im always late and people used to say I was on that time.

As a black person myself, no. Its a real thing amongst us.

Not 'coloured people' but my wife is Filipina and she often mentions 'Filipino time', meaning that Filipino people are often late and it's not considered such a rude thing to be late in their culture.

She even makes plans based on this concept. The other day she was going to her friend's (also Filipina) baby shower in another city and was planning the train journey home and I was all "well it starts at 5 so you could just stay for a few hours and then get the 8:30 train home" and she was all "lol it's not gonna start at 5, remember Filipino time".

So at least for the Filipinos this does not seem to be an offensive idea.

I'm Arab. We are HORRENDOUS with time and ALWAYS late. You think I would get offended if someone said Arabs never show up on time or called it Arab-time or whatever? I would laugh and agree then light-heartedly make fun about something related to their culture. Shitty ass PC era we live in, honestly.

The irony is, in most situations, it's not even the groups in question that get offended, rather the white liberals who feel like it's their duty to be outraged on behalf of us poor helpless minorities. I know which side of the political spectrum this board leans, so I already know what type of replies to expect on here.

Me and my friends always called it "Dominican Time" or "DT" basically for the same reason it's called "CT".

We would deliberately tell my friend Jamie and her husband whatever we were doing was actually starting 45 minutes earlier than it actually is. That way, they'd only be 10-15 minutes late, and not a full hour.

There were times where I would get to a restaurant, text to see where they are, and she would respond "I'm about to hop in the shower, I'll be there in a bit."

As someone who is usually very punctual, it gives me a lot of anxiety dealing with people aren't on-time for things.

It KILLS my wife to be late, and I've always been an "If you're on time, you're 10 minutes late" kind of person as well, so I totally get where you're coming from.

It's more being courteous that being "white".
