Interesting subject matter? Something that filmmakers should stay away from? Just another subgenre in the revenge genre, e.g. Kill Bill?

I generally don't like them because they make me feel sick.

stuff like I'll Spit on Your Grave and Irreversible.

I think it's something that requires a higher threshold of thought and planning to have it done well without seeming like cheap shock value, but there's nothing inherently bad about using it as a motivator for a character.

I'm a fan of revenge films

Revenge is amazing

They can be good. I love The Virgin Spring and the Vengeance trilogy.

I like revenge. Rape....is more a iffy thing

Revenge for rape....I mean maybe if they don't show the actual rape. But yea. Revenge is one of my favorite genres. I love a good revenge story

I like revenge films. I also liked I spit on your grave which is both rape and revenge. But rape is not a pleasant subject and I don't seek that out.

I oppose this logic. Anyone can make a film about anything they like. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

"Stay away from this subject" hinders artistic thinking.

The plot is a priest is struggling with his own feelings of homosexuality and becomes aware through confession that one of his congregation is raping his underage daughter.

The guy flat out argues why it's okay that he does it, he's almost bragging, the Priest has no idea what to do. It's a brilliantly acted and directed scene and it's uncomfortable as fuck. Artistically it's a masterpiece and the movie has balls.

Saying "You're not allowed to make that film because I find its subject uncomfortable" is totally the wrong tact. Just don't watch the film.

Sudden Impact is always my first thought.

Topics like that definitely need to be acknowledged in media. So I don't think they should be avoided. So definitely I feel it's a handle with care type situation
