With the destruction of the Citadel, portal travel broke. When attempting to reset portal travel, Rick accidentally reset portal travelers instead, sending everyone back to their original timeline. Rick ends up in the timeline where a Rick killed his family, Morty ends up in the Geiger-world he and Rick abandoned, and Jerry ends up in a timeline where he and Beth never divorced him and thus still loathes him. It's revealed that the Rick that killed our Rick's family is Morty's actual grandpa.

At the end of the episode, they end up back in their home universe, but it's shown that that universe's Jerry was sent back too. He opens up a container holding up an adorable monster that quickly consumes the entire world. So now the entire family (including Space Beth) had to switch to a universe where they were all killed. It was a rush job, so they say parmesan weird.

Pretty good episode.

I half-expected Rick's whiney backstory to be another fabrication (like in the season 3 premiere) and evil morty getting killed in a humorous way within the first minute of the episode.

I was about to be a little disappointed and hyped at the same time when Jerry killed that Rick, but was promptly relieved/disappointed when that was not the case. Lol

Holy plot points.

I enjoyed them touching on a lot of things. The reveal that the Rick who killed main Ricks family was pretty surprising and fits well within the time line of the show.

They just mentioned main Beths Rick left without a word when Rick 137 comes to them at the beginning of the show.

and I knew that the Jerry was the wrong Jerry cause I just watched that Jerry-boree episode yesterday.

I wonder where they go with the no portal access the rest of the season. Odds are its resolved next week.

Just watched it myself. What exactly was the deal with the note in Rick's original universe? It was too much for me to follow.

Rick in a drunken state did some time shenanigans to keep his original universe looped on that day. Everyone's ages and minds didn't reset but their memories were wiped daily. So they'd gradually become aware of being stuck in a loop and write the notes to themselves but then their memories wiped of the whole day again.

I'm starting to wonder if C-137 helped create the finite curve to to try and confine Rick Prime to a smaller section of infinity to narrow down his search.
