What app or apps have you used? Did you have any idea what you were doing?

In the six or so years I've had my first smartphone and getting on these apps, I've been through three of them and been on a total of 1 date that went nowhere.

Used okc, zoosk, and bumble. And clearly I don't know what I'm doing.

Tinder - awful
Bumble - okay but mostly bad. Currently seeing someone I matched with.
Hinge - matches that go nowhere
Coffee Meets Bagel - pointless and strange concentration of religious people

Generally very good - Bumble, OK Cupid, Tinder and Hinge all worked for me back in 2017 and 2018

Tinder: The most fun, but eh

Bumble: Went on one date from that app, and met my GF 4 years ago

Dating apps are like getting drunk: if someone goes into them in a bad mood and expects it to make them feel better, it's only going to make them feel worse.

You have to go into them expecting to have fun, not as a "last resort" or desperation

I learned how to date for the first time at 40 after my divorce. So you can do it.

They can be a headache for so many reasons. But I've still gotten laid a lot over the years, so they've worked well enough for me. Tinder and Feeld are the ones I've used the most.

I've used a couple and they've all been tremendous wastes of time... On Tinder, I've gotten two matches in the 5ish years I've used it and those went absolutely nowhere...

I shouldn't be surprised though...

Generally bad. There may be plenty of fish in the sea, but the waters are shallow.

I've gotten nowhere with Tinder or Bumble, but I've gone on dates with ~15 women from Hinge, which feels like a good rate of success for only swiping through it for four months.

I've had a decent time with dating apps so far. Most of my failing has been from me learning how to date again after a 10 year relationship.
