How does it compare to other Midwestern states, such as Ohio, Iowa, Indiana and Michigan?

Much like other places, it depends on where you live. The Twin Cities is much more urban, especially Minneapolis. Are you looking at a specific area?

I meant in general.

How are the Twin Cities? How do they compare to other major American cities, such as Chicago, LA, and NYC?

They're not as big as the other huge ones. I've only been to LA, and only visiting. It doesn't take long to get into rural areas, and there's a lot of overly expensive. places now, like fucking eveywhere.

I've lived in Minnesota for over half my life, just moved back about a year ago. Lived in Wisconsin for the past few years, and a small portion in Iowa.

Iowa sucks. Wisconsin, (Madison) is alright, but most of the state is... no.

Minnesota isn't overly bad. There's a lot to do here, especially compared to Iowa and Wisconsin.

The quintessential Minnesotan joke... especially considering it's called Pop here. Just like Grey Duck...

Interesting. Is Madison pretty? Does the bit between the two lakes look nice?

Do the Twin Cities have a cosmopolitan feel? Is there plenty to do? Can you walk directly between the two cities? Is East Louis really scary?

The bit between the lakes is all buildings, it's mostly the downtown area.

Madison is alright. There's a really nice set of walking trails maintained by the college that is around one of the lakes. My wife and I used to go walking there sometimes.

You could if you wanted to, but it's kind of a long walk. Not the best neighborhoods in between in some places though.

There's a lot to do, especially in Minneapolis. Both get a lot of concerts and what not. We have the largest (By daily volume) State Fair in the country, but it's already done for the year. The Mall of America. The Vikings.

Thanks, that's interesting.

What is small town Minnesota like? Is it backwards? Is there a rednecky feel?

Also, I assume the Twin Cities started off seperately, then gradually grew into each other?

I have a lot of family in south west Minnesota, and waaaaay up North. For the most part they're pretty normal, but there is some serious redneckery. However, most of the population is in the twin cities.

And yeah, baasically. It's all one large metropolitan area now.
