It was fine if you played rpgs. 3d action games look bad now. But ps1 rpgs still look fine

Early 3d games generally don't hold up well. The more cartoony ones (Crash, Spyro) look a bit better than attempts at realism, but overall decent 2d sprites look much better than low poly 3d from those times.

Still, though it was a pretty big leap in graphics for its time. I remember playing Tomb Raider 1 and thinking it was almost movie like.

I regard early 1990s 3D graphics to be in the same league as Atari VCS graphics, as in that they both are very basic and crude, but the game itself can be very playable and fun.
