Have you had a friend or acquaintance like this? Disappeared?

Also, why would someone want to throw away their life like this? What is the logic, if any, behind it?

Wanting to ensure the survival of your bloodline, what a concept. Can't believe anybody wants that. /s

Not really, because I recognized that they're obviously busier in their lives and had to reprioritize things. I valued those friendships enough to put extra effort into them to stay in touch.

Those friends did the same with us when we had our kids, too.

The father is not as affected as the mother.. however as you can imagine reduced sleep and encouragement from the mother generally forces change and reshapes his perspective as well.

Those people become property of their children.
