Someone I've talked to for a bit now. He seems very nice for Grindr, although possibly with lots of emotional baggage. We're meant to be meeting in the evening (after dark) in our town centre. There should be some people about. He's in his 30s and VERY average in looks, but I guess I'm mostly trying to break new ground.

idk I think it is probably safe, but maybe go inside a well lit public building or store/cafe if you are feeling nervous about it. Idk what the town center looks like but imagining Dundas Square, which is always populated at night, I'd feel pretty safe meeting someone there.

You can have a nice evening just walking around enjoying the fall weather and chatting about whatever. I think you should offer him a drink just to be polite, but it doesn't have to be alcohol. I think you should look forward to having a good time I guess.
