My home alarm had a false alarm a few weeks ago so I just turned it off quickly and went back to sleep, okay?

A week later I get a letter from the police saying they responded to an alarm at my house and I need a permit for my alarm system or else they'll charge me $96 per alarm response. First of all, I've had this system for three years and no one ever said a permit was needed. Second of all, no one responded! Not a single police officer came to my house! And I have had the police respond to an alarm before and they rang my doorbell and called me. That didn't happen and no one ever said shit about a permit then!

So fine, I send them a MONEY ORDER (because you can't do it online) for $17 and get the permit. Now today I get a letter scolding me for my false alarm and saying if they respond to another false alarm it's still $96 and I only don't get charged for "real" alarms.

NO ONE CAME TO MY HOUSE! Where did Captain Donut respond to??? The police are so useless. They say I can PAY THEM $10 to go to the city and take a 2 hour long seminar on how false alarms are bad for the police and they'll give me a free false alarm response.

It's a god damned joke.

Look Jen, the more time they spend responding to your false alarms, the less time they have to extort other people for money.

So what do they say you need to do to prevent responses to false alarms?

Considering they literally whines when marijuana was made legal because it would mean less revenue for them

Nothing! They just said don't do it.

It is an automated system and such things have false positives and false negatives. The only thing you can do to prevent that is to turn it off, but that also means not getting true positives...
