I legit consider it one of my biggest dating handicaps that I have absolutely zero interest in having a dog as a pet (or really having any kind of pet).

Idk, I just dont have the time, patience, money, or energy for it.

never got any weird reactions when i said that i dislike dogs. maybe I'm just weird but you can dislike dogs and still respect them as they're still living creatures. I personally wouldn't want them near me but I don't wish them harm or anything like that

Got a new young coworker who confused all of us cause she said she has 3 babies with her husband of just a couple years. The math really didn't work out until she explained her dogs are like her children.

The thing is, most people objectify their pets and that's just wrong.
Over the years, it's owners that bother me more than pets.

I don't hate dogs but the energy of many of them bothers me for the same reasons I'm not good with high energy people. And because of their size I'm uncomfortable around most dogs. Plus the smell isn't something I've ever gotten used to.

I do like watching them from a distance though, like on the other side of a street or in youtube videos. It is being near them that I'm not good with.

I don't like dogs, I'm a pretty good person. I would never harm or abuse a dog though, even though I personally find their behavior annoying most of the time and would never adopt one.

Because we specifically bred dogs to be the ideal companion animal for all sorts of tasks, including being responsive to our own emotions.

Saying you hate dogs is like saying you hate kitchens. Why would you hate something that excels at the specific tasks we had in mind for them.

Not saying you have to like dogs, especially if youve had bad experiences with one in the past, but saying you outright hate them does prompt follow-up questions.
