Italians though descendants of Rome are generally not considered Latin American as they had no colonial presence. It was all France, Spain, and Portugal.

OK, turns out I was wrong here. She was born in Miami, but her dad is English-Scottish from Argentina and mom is half English, half Spanish.

Still, I can see why some might not consider her Latina. But does she identify as Latina? That's really what matters.

Yeah it's weird he doesn't count her. She has a lot of British ancestry, but her Maternal Grandmother was from Barcelona and her Paternal Grandmother was from Argentina. And she lived in Argentina until she was 6.

And let's be 100% honest here, in the games Mario and Luigi pretty much are racist stereotypes.
At the very least it's understandable that the movie would tone down the ridiculous accents, and even commented on it.
