The main topic of LWT last night was homeowners associations and John says at the top of the show that people under 35 will never own a home, making the segment useless to them, so he instead made an entirely separate segment on Chuck E Cheese.

But I own a home....in a HOA for that matter and it's fine.

Nah, he used to cover interesting but obscure topics nobody ever thought about. Then it was Trump and COVID for literally every episode for several years. Then when he stopped that he just covered boring broad topics like "criminal justice" through a biased lens. And now HOAs which are primo bait topics on CE but people only point to the worst of the worst as examples when most aren't like that and are just a way to pay for lawncare of common ground.

My cousin's (who's 39) wife, whose 31, has been shunned by some people in her friend group because she "had the nerve" to get married and buy her own house, while they're all still living ant home and struggling.

If I am on track, I should be completely owning a million dollar house in about 8 years.

I wish home ownership never became such a "goal" in society due to the way we subsidize home ownership as a wealth creation vehicle

The "joke" is that EVERYONE under the age of 35 do not and never will own a home.

The reality is 40% of adults age 35 and younger own a home.

While that is a small number when compared to older age groups, the number is trending upward, and is actually on par with basically every other year going back to the 1980's, where the percentage basically fluctuated between 35-45% for about 40 years now.

It doesn't have to be that the story is fake. It's more so using an anecdotal situation like that to paint everyone is very limiting.

She has two friends that have fallen out of touch with her, and the reasoning they gave is that she passed them by in where she is, success wise, and they now have nothing in common because she is a wife and a mom with different experiences and responsibilities.

So the fact that my story didnt happen word for word the way you had it in your head makes it fake?

She was literally told that where they are in their lives has caused a disconnect. They both resent the fact that a part of their friend group has passed them by and they are all no longer at the same station in life.

Either way, this is distracting from my original point that the Homeowner under 35 numbers really havent changed from where they were 40 years ago. They dipped a little while we were recovering from Bush Jrs recession, but theyre in the same 35%-45% theyve always been in.
