It's against their religion. Along with drinking, smoking, being LGBTQ, celebrating birthdays, etc. They even discourage befriending non-believers.

I wonder how it would go if it were the other way around, and people went door to door trying to convert people away from religion. I bet there would be so many violent incidents.

100% it is a cult. My father is a Jehovah's Witness, and everything that the higher ups of Jehovah's Witness do are cult behavior.

I haven't seen one at my door since before covid hit. And while I know they can certainly be annoying and pushy, I'm fortunate that the ones who come to my house usually accept a polite "No thank you. I have my own faith."

I've been badgered worse by zealous religious asshats in public who are clearly too stupid to understand the word "No," then the local JWs. I once even suggested a Good Book to one who wouldn't leave me the hell alone. It was called the Dictionary.
