They're supposed to be a signal that you plan on turning or changing lanes, not a pretty light you flash in the middle of doing so.

Hell, yesterday I saw a guy who literally would turn off his signal when he didn't have space to change lanes and then turn it on when he made his move. People will gradually go slower and slower in the middle of the road waiting for an opening before they will use it.

I don't get people that simply brake when changing lanes instead of signaling.

I used to feel that way until I moved somewhere that nobody uses them at all.

This shit triggers me so fuckin' bad. Especially when waiting at a stop sign or light while prepping to make a turn only for the incoming person not to go straight but stop and turn themselves. People need to learn how to drive.

Yeah today I almost got hit by a car when I was crossing the street. I had the walk signal as I approached the corner but slowed down to let 2 cars go who were signaling left, then I started crossing since the next car wasnt signaling. But the lady in that car also tried to turn and had to slam on the brakes because I dont think she saw me.

I dont mind when its a turn-only lane, but for fucks sake, people need to signal <_<

My favorite drivers are the ones that give just a single pulse of their turn signal while they're already in the process of switching lanes. It's so useless of a gesture that I have to think they're doing it on purpose just to make people mad.

I would do it the quick way but I cannot. No wonder why if I can say.

I took a defensive driving class with a lady who said she got her ticket because when she signaled her lane change she did it the other way. To throw off the other drivers.

Unfortunately that driver was a cop.

I must be the only person in the world who treats changing lanes like it has to be done through a checklist.

1. Contemplate changing lane.
2. Decide to change lane.
3. Check that lane is safe for entry.
4. Activate indicator.
5. Check lane once again that it is safe for entry.
6. Gently turn wheel to direct vehicle toward lane.
7. Observe traffic ahead and behind while lane change is in process.
8. Ensure and confirm that lane change is complete.
9. Deactivate indicator.

Signaling whilst you are changing lanes or already in the fucking turn lane or hit the brakes is also asshole territory.

If you don't have a dash cam get one now people are nuts these days.

I swear people are just getting worse at driving and being more inconsiderate than ever. I will slow down and let people safely merge instead of speeding up so no one can get in front of me like most people do around here.

Even crossing the street to get to work I have had people honk at me and speed up like they are going to hit me and I am just a pedestrian crossing in designated crossing sections.

Does it really hurt them to wait a few seconds for people to cross the street. I just will never understand the mentality of these people or how they can be so selfish.

This is why I always give people the right of way when walking. College towns are the worst about it.

Agree 100%, its probably my biggest pet peeve on the road. Not only are you an inconsiderate jackass but youre also incredibly lazy if you cant take half a second to turn the signal on.

This is why I stopped using my signal to change lanes, fuck it. If I have a gap I'm taking it. I don't like being that way, but that's what society has driven me to do.

That doesn't happen often enough to stop using signals completely. 95% of the time if you use your signals, the other person will let you in. Very rarely do people speed up. I see that maybe 5 times per year.

And I live in the northeast so I'm often driving through MA, CT, New York, Boston, and occasionally Jersey.

Either that or they think it will give them plausible deniability if they get in a wreck. Who fucking knows? Maybe they think turn signals are some weird social tradition passed down for generations and the original meaning is lost.

So many options to being an asshole. Not being an asshole seems like it would be so much simpler for people. Lots of tough guys with a vendetta against the world when they get behind the wheel. They could let you fill that empty space in front of them, but they're gonna speed up because fuck the world, they don't let anyone lead them.

On a related traffic tangent, it's not frequent, but I'm seeing more and more people casually blow solid red lights than ever before. The same day I saw on/off turn signal guy, I saw someone slow down to "allow" a car on the cross street to go, and then he just casually continued. He was actually driving under the speed limit the entire time. I'm not sure he is even aware that there are any traffic laws.
