God of War, Jedi series, I think Control did this also?

It's funny because almost every Like a Dragon game requires you to replay the game on the hardest difficulty. It's like a tradition that it's one of the achievements at this point. Yet the "Legend" run is always kinda whatever once you've figured out how the game works.

Also a lot of character action games will require this.

I think they did it best in the Horizon games, by giving trophies for beating the games on the highest difficulty, but they're separate from the rest of the trophies so you don't need them for the platinum. Should be that way in every game with multiple difficulties imo.

Yeah okay perhaps I should have specified the game had to had selectable difficulty levels.

Which neither Elden Ring or LEGO games have.

Osrs. You just have to do a bunch of early game stuff to get all achievements on steam.

I absolutely LOVE games that don't punish you for playing on an Easy or Story mode. I want more games to do Control's god mode setting.

I hate replaying sections of games after I die. If I have to repeat a section like 3-4 times that is a very likely spot for me to put down the game and forget to pick it back up. >_>

Bloodborne doesn't have difficulty levels, but there are plenty of harder Chalice Dungeons than the ones you need to platinum the game.

Is a trophy "punishment"?

It's only a slog if the highest difficulty is locked behind beating the game on a lower difficulty. If it's not, then it's on you for playing twice when you didn't have to.

it's kinda telling that achievement points and difficulty don't seem to want to mingle.

like, i can't really think of anything more fitting of a pretend trophy than beating a game on its hardest setting.

13 Sentinels Aegis Rim you can just play normlly and not even on the hardest difficulty to platinum it. My only platinum besides Steins; Gate Zero which I had to do one specific event to complete that (conveniently I had saves right by this point).

I know Steins; Gate Zero doesn't fit the question but I couldn't say 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim is my only ever platinum.

They added in a new difficulty as DLC so the original trophy list didn't require it for platinum.

This is why Souls games are great, just one difficulty and no lame easy or fake hard modes. Just play the game and get your completion.

I think its fair to ask for mastery. If you make it so all trophies are obtainable by everyone, why even bother making them? Now, asking someone to beat some kind of super ultra ultra hard death erases your save mode is a bit much.

There are so many advantages to a having a high trophy level. One you can trigger users on here but that's amatuer. I always have my psn account ready on my phone in case I'm not getting proper service. Just flash that trophy level and people treat you better. You can also use it on dating website profiles and resumes.

Doom Eternal, but it has something much worse than that, multiplayer trophies. Whomever thought it was a good idea to lock trophies behind their shitty battlemode is an asshole.

Yeah whether you go for trophies/achievements is honestly your own business. They can offer novel means of determining your skill, or they could just be hitting the marks you'd normally be hitting anyway.

I honestly prefer when games use their own internal system that leads to some kind of reward, even if it's just art pieces.
