Well, when you're competing in international level athletics in Kelowna, the stakes are bound to be high. Especially when people are clearly gambling their entire retirement savings on the outcome.

The point I'm trying to make is that 30-40 years ago, short-hair on females was positively viewed in society. (Hell, American society liked short hair on females in the 1920s; what with the flappers. Same with the 1940s, after all... just look at Rosie the Riveter.)

And now, we're right back to the 1900s in how society views this.
