Weren't those the tv shopping numbers?

Even at that age, 800 and 900 numbers came off as sketchy and I knew not to call them.

Oh yeah, the sexy part lines and shit.

I called a "976" number once in college. IIRC, that prefix was specifically for sex talk. First minute was free, then there were menu options. I selected something and got a 5 minute recording. It was $40.

i do. one time when i was a kid i called one and talked to the lady for a few minutes. my parents got the phone bill and asked the kids who did it and i never fessed up, so we each had to pay 1/3. how shameful of me to not admit to it.

I accidently called one when I was a kid. Other then being 900 instead of 800, evidently the number was the same as a game cheat hotline I used.

This was back when prank callings were still a thing.

Anyway, I was wondering who had the 518-***-1800 number.
Welp it turns out, it was the cops.

LMAO, they knew I was fucking around...but to this day, I remember the dispatcher was like..."Are you suuure you don't want the cops"|

True story, and alls well that ends well.
To this day, I've never forgotten the number.
