i lived out of a van while exploring the us and canada for a few years, it was an experience... but jokes aside you can find toilets literally anywhere in the developed world. the fact that anyone shits in a bucket is beyond me. i see a lot of the vanlifers proudly proclaim that it isn't that bad to drop something in a bucket and that they "got over it" lol. also these people with tiny homes convince themselves that their composting toilet is supposedly not disgusting are beyond me.

that said, i watched quite a bit of videos before starting so i'm well aware of how sugar coated some channels are. you give up a lot for the freedom of movement and it's often not reflected in youtube productions or podcasts.

i have less interest in tiny houses but i know someone that insists i watch tiny house shit when i'm with them, which i'm not the least interested in but it feels like it's in the same vein.

yeah there was a documentary about people selling themselves online living in vans while they actually lived in homes / apartments and staged everything. a lot of it is rich people just trying to get richer.

I wanna start "truck bed camper life" videos. One of those goofy ones with like Vinyl siding that looks like it's from the 80s or something.

I was in the drivethrough at Panera the other day when this panel van parked in the lot next door opened the side door.It was one of those modified vans converted to a mobile home and the driver plopped this tiny little dog on a leash down on the strip of grass.

She then closed the van door on it.

lmao. tbh in retrospect i'd rather live out of a truck camper to satisfy my urge to travel instead of 99% of the van builds i've seen.

luckily i'm mostly tired of the us and canada these days and that mode of travel doesn't appeal to me anymore, feel i've seen enough here. i still get the feeling like i need to travel but most of that is international / airbnb / hotels and such.

depends on what you mean i guess. i had 10k in the bank at all times as an emergency fund and a remote job at the time. i don't think i was that rich tbh... i guess it's all relative.
