*Or Data Science because the title was too long.
Also I literally don't care. You are not qualified to know what is and isn't secure or what data is and isn't being sent wherever you think it is being sent. People who do work in these fields likely don't know either, but are more than likely more informed than you are. No, reading random articles on the internet does not make you informed about this subject, and once again I really want to reiterate, I don't care about your opinions.

I will elaborate if you don't try and start an argument with me.

Couldn't this be said for most complex fields?

Correct.
People tend to think that cybersecurity isn't a serious field tho.

Unless you're designing circuit boards, your take on computers are irrelevant.

But I've literally been involved in the design of pcbs before. It's not difficult and you'll naturally be adjacent to if if you ever work at a company where the EE is done in house. Are you telling me reading a schematic or understanding the parts used in the schematic is some kind of rocket science?

I'm being an ass because everyone can claim priority over something when there are multiple fields who handle similar things.
You could just as easily say "unless you're working in verilog or VHDL for FPGAs, your takes on data privacy are irrelevant".

But I've worked with VHDL and FPGAs before as well. Honestly cool story around that was when I had my college VHDL professor as a boss for a few years. I didn't even make the connection until years after I was hired at that company.

A lot of Computer Science things are incredibly transferable unless you're stuck in webdev hell or are using very specific proprietary technologies, however Cybersecurity is not really an extremely specific topic within computer science that people need to invest a lot of time in to understand. Other examples would be things like AI (remember people have a very bad understanding of what AI is).

I don't really know what kind of replies you're expecting to get when you start a post with "I don't care about what you have to say; your opinion is irrelevant...if you'd like me to elaborate, then I can, but don't argue with me" as if people will just inherently agree that you're the arbiter of truth when it comes to cyber sec right after you said there's no way they can have any modicum of knowledge on the subject because reasons.

I don't have the answers but I know enough that the people claiming they have the answers do not. I also know that people who want to solve a problem are usually solving the wrong problem, or they're trying to solve a problem that's so hopelessly beyond them that it's annoying to explain to them why that problem is difficult to solve (also they call you an idiot if you try and explain). My whole thing now is to try and learn more just so I can talk about this more.

Tbh it's just another thread that makes you look like you really think you're a superior know it all. Idk why you do these things lol

I'm not saying this to be insulting either, but you always put out that vibe.

Depends on the opinion. Opinions about what is/isn't happening or what is/isn't possible? Yeah, those depend on specialized knowledge and laypeople aren't likely to be qualified to draw meaningful, correct conclusions from their limited understanding. Opinions on what they would like to be happening/not be happening? Not only are those opinions valid, satisfying the desires expressed by those opinions (and helping to refine the requests based on knowledge of what's possible and what other issues need to be considered) is cybersec's entire purpose.

Of course, there's appreciable irony in this being said by somebody who insists there's no value in going outside after not leaving his room for a decade, but who needs self-awareness?

I do and it annoys me to. It's always because I'm too quick to react to things. I make a deliberate attempt NOT to react to things.
