Currently on AT&T with my family but thinking about branching out if it's worth (just by myself)

Mint is deprioritized like T-Mobile prepaid. Just get regular T-Mobile.

How's reception? I know it's on TMobile but I hear they have very good coverage now?

Have also had mint for years. No issues with coverage or service. I find it crazy to pay $50+ a month on my phone.

How quaint.

Pretty solid for $20 (15GB w/unl call/text). Only times my service gets wonky is if I'm in a heavily blocked building area with interference or if I'm out in the woods.

So basically no different than $60+ phone service.

Your data and voice calls are last in line and you will not be served if the cell site is congested.

Mint is fine but Id do a trial of it before committing to the long term plans that get you the best price due to being deprioritized. T-Mobile doesnt have congestion issues often in my experience, but you never know. T-Mobile coverage is generally excellent these days. I dont use them anymore, but they were good and very fast anywhere that wasnt a large, dense building.

I'm currently on Visible+ (Verizon) for $35/month from a promo they were running. I also get a $10/month discount on my home internet since I use fios which is also a Verizon product. Cant beat it. Visible also has a $25 plan but its completely deprioritized and Verizon has more congestion issues than ATT or T-Mobile.

Prepaid is the way to go.

Had Mint Mobile for a year. No problems, clear and no drops. It uses the T-Mobile Network. It's prepaid though, so you have to pay everything upfront. That $15/month is for 1 year ($180 upfront). Other, shorter plans have a higher monthly rate ($20-$25 a month).

Just switched to Tello (2 weeks). No problems so far. Clear and no drops. It uses the T-Mobile Network and is very customizable. I don't use a lot of data on my smartphone, so I took a plan with unlimited talk/text with all the data (2x) I need, for $12/month and it's month to month.

Whatever you do, shop around and don't just "settle"on a phone plan. Good luck.

Can you use the $10 off FiOS deal if you already have Verizon FiOS? From what I see you can only use the promotion on a new connection/setup.

@CRON I had Fios before I had Visible and was able to use it. Iirc I got a code via email and had to pester Fios customer service to apply it for me. It was a slight hassle because Verizon customer service is altogether ass, but we got there.

you read NoContract? lol

i personally wouldn't go for Mint just because i don't like t-mobile coverage and they don't have an actual unlimited plan (just the 35 GB plan).

Friends,

I always thought about switching, but my wife does not want too.

I think there is a plan by google. I would love to get that. they have like international plans

Nothing pissed you off more then going to a cruise, and drop in and out of the USA, and get like 10 international rates. For a 10 word text message.
