Bands are playing specific albums

fuck me thats a sexy ass lineup

I just got the email for this. I don't know how the fuck they will have enough time for all of those albums to be performed but holy shit that's a good lineup. Are they gonna have like 12 stages or something?

four stages, so youre guaranteed to miss some things, I counted last years lineup and Id have missed seven bands I wanted to see because they were playing at the same time of other bands I wanted to see

Looks like they replaced a lot of the bigger names with more whiny mallcore. Still some good stuff in there like Jimmy Eat World and Coheed, or even the more fun, musical bands of the whiny stuff like My Chemical Romance (not Fall Out Boy though, they're probably responsible for like half the crap on this list).

Amazing lineup. They even got dead bands like pretty girls make graves and cobra starship to come back for this.

Some whiny stuff, sure. Even Pierce the Veil or LS Dunes have a lot of interesting moments (edit: the Wonder Years and Sleeping with Sirens are some of the other smaller names I recognize and at least enjoy to some extent), but a lot of this stuff was far more obnoxious and trendy than it was actually musically strong enough to be regarded as classic albums. Nothing wrong with being whiny if it actually makes for good, powerful music, but a problem with a lot of Warped Tour bands is that the whininess is one of their biggest selling points, along with following the fashion clichs of the time.

I'd love to see a bunch of thirty somethings out there two stepping in the pit.

I have that Distillers album, and I don't know why.

Maybe the edgy cover imagery.

When I was fifteen I saw Jimmy eat world in Las Vegas and we were so crowded in the pit nobody could move, and this guy kept grabbing my girlfriends boobs and she was like dude stop and he said chill out its a concert and I punched him in his face, complete sucker punch from behind, he never saw it coming (not honorable but it is what it is) and I knocked him out and he was being held up because it was so crowded and then somebody else was like this dude just passed out! And the security guards reached in and dragged him away and we never saw him again

This was right after futures came out

I love it way better this way because if theres a band I only know one song from, I can listen to the album and learn the songs leading up to it. I know exactly what theyre gonna play so I can actually learn the songs first

Calm down, I was never acting like it was. I was just noting how there were less quality acts in my opinion than the previous year, and I really doubt I'm alone in thinking that from people that listen to a broader range of music than mid 2000's mallcore stuff. Quit whining at me for not liking all the bands you like.

setlist fm works just fine for this; there are so many bands here that are just gonna play a bunch of filler instead of all the hits

album play shows are generally boring to me unless its a band I absolutely love tbh. Albums are not typically sequenced in a way that makes for a good concert, and theres a reason bands dont play certain songs live

Might go for Coheed, Dashboard, Say Anything and Thursday. I've seen pretty much every band on this lineup at least once tho lol some of them on their first tours.

love seeing albums played from start to finish. Those are my favorite shows!

I'd mainly want to go for MCR and Nada Surf since those two I've yet to see live. Let Go is a fantastic album.

The devil wears prada playing plagues holy shit it feels like I'm in middle school again. I love this concept and there's a ton of bands I'd love to see. Really gonna try and go this year

The way most bands operate these days, looking up the setlist.fm stuff is akin to looking up movie spoilers, other than the obvious fact that movie spoilers can be worse in ruining the effect of the plot.

I like that playing entire albums forces bands to go beyond only playing greatest hits set lists, but it does kill the spontaneity and in that sense, the "live" aspect. It works best when bands pick a shorter, high energy album (like Green Day's Dookie) to start with before playing other essential hits with some other live rarities thrown in. The Flaming Lips did a similar thing with their Yoshimi album this past year.

Also I think its funny they couldnt get Fall Out Boy to commit to playing an album. Those guys suck lol

I won't lie, the From Under the Cork Tree album could make for a fun nostalgia trip, but that's in part because their post-reunion material makes me appreciate their pre-reunion material so much more.

I saw them at 2017 Warped in Seattle. It was hilarious, theres all these teenie boppers running around trying to watch Brand New, meanwhile HH is nothing but old people(25+ year olds) screaming their faces off.

yeah like as much as i'd love to hear Black Parade, Bleed American and Full Collapse live in their entirety, a lot of bands on here don't really have albums worth playing front to back, or anything good at all
