Cause she's a strong independent woman with higher aspirations than popping Kiryu's cherry.

Because the devs never really viewed her as anything more than just a one off romance for Kiryu.

It's fans, particularly Western fans, that have made a big deal of her. The devs have said as much in recent interviews.

They can be out of relationship, but still present in the plot. She can probably be haruka's mother figure without being in relationships with kiryu.

Why does she need to be a mother figure? Like, are the only roles you can think of for her Kiryu's lover or Haruka's mother? That's a little yikes tbqh.

Well you can continue her career without being completely written off. I am not pissed that she doesnt end up with kiryu i am pissed they just thanos snapped her 5 minutes into the game lol

Fair, that's just an example. She can still kick yakuza ass even without directly being involved with kiryu.

Well i guess the writer doesnt know what to do with her without making her a love interest. Since they dont want kiryu romance plot (which is fine) so instead of trying to direct her character arc into other direction they just poof'd her out of the story. Which is a shame we dont get much character like her in the series. So far, most of the women in the series are passive and reactive agents in the story.

Another thing I've heard, though I don't know how true it is, is that her original Y2 voice actress was difficult to work with so that's one of the reasons she was booted. That actress' only voice role ever was Y2/Y3 so maybe? Who knows.

Yeah that makes sense. Going in blind I though she was going to stay in the story like Date as a friend on the force but when 3 retired her character I figured it had to be because she really wasn't meant to stay around.

Besides, they really want Kiryu to still see hostesses and having an actual love interest would just made him look bad otherwise.

I don't mind if they never had them be an item and just be completely platonic. But completely dropping her altogether is kind of weird since she seemed like she was a fairly major character.
