MikeRoweWorks Foundation CEO Mike Rowe argues that four-year college degrees are no longer seen as a source of pride by graduates

I don't agree with many takes from Mike Rowe, but he's 100% correct here.

4-year degree is the new highschool diploma when you're looking for a job, but with asstons of debt instead of just some trombone or something you'll never play again.

No.

Given it's Mike Rowe and it's on Fox, he's probably using some real shit reasoning but I'll agree the prestige of degrees are definitely wearing a bit thin.

He actually does a good job of not taking the Fox people's bait of giving a controversial opinion they wanted.

What's he say so we don't have to watch the video and give Fox views.

Yeah, that's a thing I think Boomers have a hard time understanding because when they were entering the workforce a 4-year degree was something special that made someone stand out. But now it doesn't because so many more people have them. It's just become a baseline requirement for a lot of jobs.

In the field I work in a 4-year degree is required but most of the time a degree on its own is not enough to get your foot in the door anymore. You need an internship for that.
