Presentation and gameplay are still top notch, and it surprisingly doesn't look as dated as you d think outside of character models. And even that isn't a big deal.

if any game needs an HD update its that one. The Twin Snakes ruined it...Sony needs to get on this.

I refuse to play twin snakes. Never have. I've loved the first since I played it in 6th grade when it came out. It was and still is a favorite game of mine, along with 3. I refuse to have it tainted.

eh the gameplay and controls are pretty dated, although i think MGS2 holds up well

i would love to see a remake of MGS1 with MGSV's (trash) engine, think about how fucking sick that'd be

It mostly works on a genre parody layer where it evokes and pastiches one of our more well-loved fiction genres of yesterday. We're not so far removed from the 90's that it still feels fresh. Kinda like Hot Fuzz.
