Sucks they're out of jobs, but you know what you're getting into when you go into that industry.
Games are not where you should apply your software skills. Business pays better, is more stable, and is infinitely less stressful. The problem was that Perfect World Entertainment wants to focus on online games, so they cut Runic off. They won't be done making games, they'll find work elsewhere.
