That said, the rest of P5 after that chapter actually gets pretty lighthearted. I don't get the impending doom of P2 and P3, nor the personal stakes of P5.

Recently started my NG+ playthrough and holy shit that is still the most well-written arc. Since the initial arc took place entirely at school, you really got to witness exactly how much of a scumbag Kamoshida was. Shiho's attempted suicide was a fairly memorable scene as well. If you didn't wanna punish Kamoshida by then, you definitely had ample motivation after seeing someone be driven to that point. The first arc was lightning in a bottle that the rest of the game up to 11/19-20 just didn't capture.

Most of the crew was reluctant or scared. I mean, there's the opening scene where Yukari is freaking out about using the evoker. There's nothing like that in either 4 or 5.

5, by contrast, involved people going "Oh man, new powers and a costume! I'll nickname myself Skull!!!"

It isnt subtle. I almost didnt play the game because I dont like media using that just to be like look this guy raped someone hate him! Like other games have

But they actually made him a real character and rape wasnt just the thing to throw him to the dark side, hes a horrible person and thats some of the horrible stuff he did.

Still made me incredibly uncomfortable to play through for obvious reasons but at least it was actually to tell the story.

P5 was more a self-destructive and outwardly destructive kind of anger that they learned to channel at specific targets. I don't think it's as straightforward as "hot damn I can do things now!" because they end up misguided later on.
