Two major recessions in the first 15 years of our adult lives still won't be enough to convince boomers to go fuck themselves with that bootstraps shit.

Yep. We figured as much.

We just have to cut back on a few things like nursing homes and funeral costs. I'm sure they'll understand.

Don't worry, in 40 or 50 years you'll be telling the next generation about how you went through two recessions and were able to build a life for yourself so they should quit their whining.

In 50 years I'd be 82. I'm not remotely going to make it to that age, and if I did, I'd be in full blown dimentia or alzheimers.

If this wasn't a GOP presidency, they would be ranting and raving about this nonstop. And rightfully so, to a large extent. This was the time to increase taxes, cut fat social programs, and get the deficit back into line. Instead, we increased the deficit and McConnell won't even come to the table to discuss a reasonable budget.

Recessions aren't magic. The economy is cyclical. You either swing hard, or you soften the blow both directions. We might not have a recession for 5 years, but it's coming one way or another and the indicators are there now.

My big fear with the next recession is that, if it happens before Trump is out of office, the GOP will use it as an excuse to cut the disabled, poor, and elderly off. Who needs life-saving medications and expensive medical tests? Not the poor that's for sure. Think of the rich donors!

If it happens after, they'll blame it on democrats, calling them communists (even though they'recenter-rightists for the most part) and claim what we need to do is more tax cuts for the rich and more austerity for the poors.

Recessions like the crisis in 2009 are once, maybe twice in a lifetime type of events.

The economy is cyclical, recessions happen and then they're followed by a recovery.

A recession is two fiscal quarters of gdp shrinkage, we haven't even had one yet. Meaning a recession is at worst 6 months away. Dont be a sucker and let fear mongers scare you

We're still feeling the effects of the great recession to this day and there are severe fundamental issues. The next one could definitely been worse. Don't be a sucker and assume everything will be all right.

It matters what records we're breaking. Don't just lap up whatever selective numbers the rich-owned media tell you to lap up. Wealth inequality is also record-breaking. Education and medical expenses are through the roof. Real estate costs have beaten pre-recession highs and are making it very difficult for millennials to afford living on their own. Personal debt is extremely high. Hell, debt all around is at ridiculous levels.

corrections are an economic inevitability, as are occasional speculative bubbles and ensuing financial panics

things get unpleasant when the government manipulates organic cycles which may vary by sector and what not and imposes it on the entire economy - never mind while creating ongoing inflation and assuming debt in the process

the 2009 recession was created by government interference in the financial sector

the ongoing "economic expansion" since then and soaring stocks on top of that was created by flooding the financial sector with free money

negative real interest rates means it's safe and even advantageous to assume debt, so now there's a massive corporate debt bubble

there are signs of inflation and stagnation and political pressure to not raise rates to prevent stagnation

there will be hell to pay when everything catches up with us

Bezos' affair was a ploy to issue a divorce to give Bezos and his wife a legitimate reason to cash out on a percentage of his stocks (it was at $20-28 billion he cashed out!) without being convicted of insider trading.
